For us, each concert is a narrative where the instruments meet and intertwine. The trio sonata grants us the freedom to craft spontaneous, authentic dialogues, while exploring a rich and diverse repertoire that we joyfully share with our audience.

Biography

In Irish mythology, the Banshee is a messenger from another world. The four musicians of The Banshies felt the need to form their own ensemble to create a safe space that allows them to experiment freely. They focus on communication and listening, abolishing any sense of hierarchy.
In The Banshies, no instrument is king: violins accompany the cello or harpsichord and step back for a solo cello piece. Their world is built on friendship, shared passions, diverse cultures, and the music, literature, and visual arts that inspire them.

A concert like a story

Their concerts always follow a guiding thread: telling a story through music. Each program is crafted like a journey, seamlessly blending great Baroque repertoire with traditional melodies and transcriptions.
They also enjoy adapting their programs to suit different audiences. With « Let Thy Charms », their English music program with mezzo-soprano, they explore various interpretations—instrumental, without harpsichord, as a string trio, or even as a violin duo—offering a fresh perspective on the same musical narrative.

"This album is not some pleasant baroque background music for a leisurely Sunday coffee break. It is a razor-sharp, highly intelligent declaration of love for a pivotal era of change— and an absolutely gripping tribute to the master from Venice."

« An infinitely touching, embodied expressiveness, a desire to convey and share. It’s enough to immediately sweep the audience away on a deeply moving journey and leave them with memories that will linger for a long time… »
